I heard something on the radio yesterday that disturbs me.

John Kerry -- for whom I will be voting in the fall, simply because he's not the Cowboy-in-Chief -- was discussing same-sex marriage. He was asked whether he thought that sexual preference was a result of nature or nurture, and answered 'it's inborn.' Although not proven, there's enough evidence to suggest that it's a reasonable possibility.

However, when he was then asked whether he favored permitting same-sex marriages, he answered that he did not, but did favor "civil unions."

Um, no. John, if you assert that homosexuality is an inborn quality, something immutable in the individual, then you must support FULL marriage rights for them. Else you are asserting that separate = equal, which as we all know, is inevitably untrue.

As much as it bothers me, this is a minor matter compared to the atrocious abuses of the truth and civil rights under which the U.S. has labored for three years now. Let's get things straightened out at the top, and then we can undo all that harm.
