Holiday Weekend
Jul. 5th, 2004 06:36 amLast weekend, we were informed that it was 99% likely that work would be closed Friday and Saturday nights because the building's upper (18th floor and up) data center was shutting to be worked on.
You'd think they could have confirmed this by Wednesday. Fortunately, we'd already made plans and I told the agency that if work was open, it could be without me. It turns out they were closed.
As we approached the weekend, stress built. ( Thursday )
Our Friday plans were blown to smithereens when, on Wednesday, M received sudden distressing news. ( Friday )
Saturday was the day of The Big Expotition. ( Saturday )
Sunday, work was light, and they sent me home early. It was pouring out when I got out of the building, and since the car service had no cars available, I had decided to take the subway. I was too tired to try to stay at work the two hours it would have taken to get a car, you see.
Fortunately, the new Duane Reade near work is 24/7. I bought a cheap umbrella and a drink for the wait/ride home, and here I am.
Sleep is imminent. See you later...
