I know. I haven't been here very often recently, for good reason. Updates soon.

I hope all your winter festivities have gone well, and that you had a good New Year.

It occurs to me, though, that 2004 will go down as one of the all-time terrible years in history. I mean, when the Red Sox winning the World Series is only the third-worst disaster of the year (ranking behind the tsunami and the US election results), it's pretty awful.

May all your years be orders of magnitude better than the last, whether your 2004 was poor or good; may we all experience good health, abundance, and peace.

Quick explanation of why I haven't been around: My home had gotten out of control, messwise. And our super correctly noted that the mess was a fire hazard and kindly gave us a month to get it under control. So we've been spending almost all our time at home working on it. It would be nice if we had a bit more space in the storage unit -- it's almost full, and it's large, and most of the space is boxes of books (anybody got a ten- or twelve-bedroom house that is empty and needs filling with books and a family to take care of books and home? :-) -- but we're making a dent.

It's not clean yet -- that will still take some time, and continued reinforcement of better picking-up habits (especially in the young lady of the house, whose fourth birthday is TODAY!) -- but it's getting to where dodging and bobbing and weaving to get from one room to another isn't completely mandatory. And we're digging out the corners of the living room, so we should have space there -- and access to the shelves and cabinets -- soon.

I expect to get back to the regularly scheduled LJ (including backposts) Real Soon Now. So don't touch that dial...

(Wow, is that an anachronism! Or is it back in vogue, what with the circular control on the iPod?)
