All Your IM Belong to Us! - signed, AOL
Mar. 12th, 2005 01:03 amFrom Slashdot, we learn that AOL announced new terms of service for AIM under which "by posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy."
Not that I believed there really was privacy before, but there's something disturbing about the thought of discussing anything serious over AIM anytime, anywhere. (Fortunately, I use it for exactly two things: concom meetings, and, once annually, a minor league fantasy baseball draft.)
( And a thank you to two who make AIM way less necessary, behind the cut. )
