(no subject)

Computer trouble. Apparently the CPU fan is cutting out. It may be that it only happens when I turn the tower vertical again -- but tomorrow, I get a replacement.

Meanwhile, this is from a spare box, that only needed a firewall and Firefox added to it (and its antivirus definitions updated) to get online.

Aside from having wasted five hours coping with this, all is as it was, only you are there.

Homework

What we don't do for our kids.

My son forgot to bring home some of his homework. He called his friend S, with whom he has a reciprocal supply contract for when they mess up like this -- only S is at a piano lesson. He gets home and calls back at 7 PM, and will fax over the work. After a few tries in which I learn how to use the new multifunction machine to receive faxes, we get it. And it needs whiting out.

That's simple, if you have whiteout on hand. Or if you have your scanner hooked up to the computer. (See previous entry, noting that this is a spare.) We didn't, and so M promised to bring some home from work, where she was just leaving at around 8 PM.

She got in around 9 PM, and after blanking out his friend's answers, my son is now working on the (photocopied, so that the whiteout wasn't a clue) homework.

Oy.
