One thing I am going to make time for in the next month is to go see the
Declaration of Independence on display at the New York Public Library. This is a fair copy of Thomas Jefferson's original, with underlining to note edits from the original submission, as well as several early printed copies and newspaper clippings from the time.
Given that we've just celebrated the writing of the document, seeing it in the original is going to be a thrill, and if they're lucky, the kids will appreciate it. Hm. Maybe see if either of them will sit through
1776 (which they weren't around for, on the Fourth)...
