No time for a real update, right now. Work, work, work.

So a meme, instead... )

Yes, I know Kurt Vonnegut died. He was a hoopy frood, by all accounts, and while I don't deny either the quality of importance of his writing, I simply never liked it (except for God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. Sorry for all your loss.

No, I'm here to note with sorrow the passing of a terrific actor, and a face (if not a name) you all probably know, Roscoe Lee Brown. He's one of those faces whom you'll see EVERYWHERE for a while after younotice him, but may not notice for thirty years. Which is too bad, because his work, both on individual projects and as a body, is pretty awesome.

Here's to you, Mr. Brown, and all the folks like you -- not the biggest names, but the foundation and set of shoulders on which the biggest names climb. So many of us are in your class -- if up that high, in our achievements -- and striving for greatness that we sometimes overlook the quality and strength and importance of that group. Requiescat.

In my last entry, I mistakenly said "sorry for your loss" re Kurt Vonnegut. He's all of our loss, as a person and a literary treasure. I am not sure how to say "sorry about the loss of a great, but personally not connected with author" very well, but it sure isn't like that.

*sigh* That's what I get for writing just after waking up.
