Pitchers and catchers report February 14.

[livejournal.com profile] maya_a started experiencing pain in her jaw over the weekend. It's at a point several teeth removed from where she had some serious work last year, and it flares when she taps not that tooth, but the one it's under. There's no fever, so we're not as concerned about infection as we might be. (She had a root canal in that tooth some time back, so my personal theory is that the post or fill in the root has worked loose or cracked and is munching the jawbone; ouch!) It's gotten extremely painful, and she toughed it out (with the help of some serious painkillers last night) until this morning so she could see her regular dentist instead of an emergency dentist who doesn't know her. She's just left for a 10AM appointment; we're both hoping that it can be dealt with immediately (although we both fear it means some serious work).

Good thoughts for her would be welcome.

Yes, I know Ticketmaster sucks rocks. But still...

I was at the computer at five till nine this morning, intending to buy Springsteen tickets. Got in, selected my price tier and accepted the "best available seats" with a sigh, clicked, waited interminably for the "buy" screen, and, when it came back, saw that my seats were at stage right, just behind the stage.

I did not buy them, because you know, at $75 per ticket, including fees, even in the top tier, I'll be damned if I'm sitting behind the stage anymore.

I bet I could have sold them for six times face value later, though.

M called a couple of minutes ago. It appears there's a small pocket of infection. Since this tooth has had multiple problems in the past, and the surgery to save it would be tricky, expensive, and by no means guaranteed to fix the problem, the tooth goes.

That means I need to pick her up at the dental surgeon's office around 4 PM. Except that here am I, not yet slept for work tonight, and needing to pick up the children at 2:40. It's nap time for me, and then we'll have an adventure (the office is on Central Park South, so we can find something to do :-) With luck, I can get another couple of hours nap before work when we get home.

Thanks for all the good thoughts; this could have been lots worse.

G'night.
