Amazingly, I haven't seen even one RIP for this man since
the news of his death yesterday.

Sidney Lumet was one of two (along with Woody Allen) great directors who essentially used New York City as a character in his films, and his love of the city shows. He made films about good guys, and bad guys, and justice, and the injustice of people frustrated that the bad guys were winning. He made films that will live for a very long time, because the people were real (especially when they were based on real incidents) and the themes are eternal.
Requiescat, sir. I wish there were more like you, and there may never again be.
