Sep. 11th, 2011 10:30 amTen years ago, I was wakened after working a night shift, by a voice using a tone that brought me fully awake and following in somewhere under a millisecond.
With kids who were then three and one years old, I was very glad that PBS continued its children's programming, and for cable channels of kids' programs. Even so, the scrolling ribbons of text and occasional flips to CNN told me all I needed to know, and I was, like so many, empty inside.
Today, I have read, and offer up to you, the best thing to come from that horrid day: John M. Ford's poem 110 Stories. If you haven't read it, do; if you know it intimately, today's the day to find the thing you hadn't noticed yet.
My plans for the day include a viewing of the awesome documentary Man On Wire, about Philippe Petit and the day he walked between the Twin Towers, high above New York. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
