RIP Majel Barrett Roddenberry, 76
As many others have noted, we have lost the most consistent actor from the Star Trek universe, in every incarnation to date (IIRC). The voice of the computer, Number One from the original pilot, Nurse Chapel from ST:TOS, Lwaxana Troi in ST:TNG -- the credits roll long. I remember her best as Troi; the episode with the wedding is one that I cannot, nor would I choose, ever to forget.
And, as the cherry on top, she appeared memorably on ST's biggest rival in its time, Babylon 5, and kicked serious butt in her role.
I understand she appears as the voice of the computer in the new ST movie coming out. It's going to be hard to hear her lines; the tears in my eyes will be in the way.
Goodbye, m'lady. It's been a heck of a run.
