Didn't get to see the Decemberists this past week. Nuts, rats, and other comestibles.
Someone recently noted that the Flying Spaghetti Monster could easily fit into the HP Lovecraft universe, possibly as the best-known Great Old One. Hee!
I love being able to edit my comments before publishing them. The reason I gave folks for resisting joining LJ for so long was that it was a time sink, and I'd get sucked in. I was right. And, I'm glad I surrendered.
That's why I love IRC, too.
And why I am
so not a telephone person, and always feel I'm boring the folks I'm with face to face in RL.
Except when I'm communicating by touch. Then I don't have to guess whether I'm being boring; I know, one way or the other.
Apparently, I
don't just skim my Friends list. I recognized 95%; could have been better, I suppose.
One of my favoritest people in the world has a birthday this week. Maybe this year, unlike the last several, I'll actually get the card I'm working on OUT (in time, much less at all). Reminder to self: every so often, you need to allow something to be complete.
I'm really tired of reading about
Serenity. I'm even tireder of being told I have to see it. I've always pushed back against that sort of thing, which is why it took me at least five years longer than it ought to have, to read each of
Lord of the Rings,
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Amber series,
Watchmen, and
Sandman. That I can think of. And the way things are right now, I don't even get to see the movies I'm excited about in the first place. So it wouldn't surprise me if I don't see it until the DVD comes out. Don't worry, though, gang -- I read spoilers :-)
Which reminds me, I'm not much of a mystery reader. But I really do need to see if I can scare up replacements for the Lindsey Davis Falco books that went with Lyrra and then the rest of the series. He's one of about five detectives who I'll read, and lately I've had an itch to catch up there.
It's a nasty gray day outside. I know it's going to be rotten at street level, but from 48 storeys up, it's rather pretty. We're not quite in the clouds, and about half of the Empire State Building is shrouded. Wish I had a decent camera with me.
Time to wrap up. Later, y'all!
