Wow.

Just, wow.

Started watching this on Monday night (it's now Thursday, for later reference), and I am stunned by this series. I haven't seen any fiction on TV, much less network TV, this good since B5, Seasons 3-4.

The good: Heroes makes it clear that it's a comic book. But it's by and for adults, and not afraid of using all the well-known comic book tropes, concepts, ideas, and even storylines. It does them well, and not (generally) in a cliched way. There's genuine depth to many characters, as well as the double- and triple-reverses you'd expect from comics characters in general. As the saying goes, you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll GLADLY kiss 17 hours goodbye.

The bad: Season 2 doesn't start until September. Sometimes it's hard to believe even the comic-book science. And did I mention that the season's done, for months?

The spoilery: )

The show's point is well made. In the end, it's about the people you love, and who love you. Go hug 'em. And accept some from me, if you will.

Oh, well. At least while we wait for Season 2, we can watch Season 3 of Top Chef. Any day now... *drums fingers, slowly, from pinky to index finger...*
