via PZ Myers, we learn that the Koufax Awards site is back up and running, and we should be seeing preliminary nominations threads shortly. (For those not yet aware, the Koufax Awards are presented to the best "lefty" -- i.e., liberal -- blogs on the Net. Among other things, the nomination posts are great places to find good writers to read. And the winners have, so far, proved out to be well worthy of their titles.)

Yay!

Today Bravo ran the last five or so episodes of Top Chef, Season 1. I taped it while the kids and I went to Queens Pride (though we missed the parade, because I had forgotten about an errand we had to run), and have just watched the tape.

Entertaining, not quite as refined as Season 2 -- naturally -- and the judges made similar poor decisions near the end. They either contrived or screwed up the penultimate and antepenultimate choices (though to be honest, they had a legitimate technical reason and/or out for their incorrect choice on the penultimate show), but they got the final decision correct. (Funny how that happened again in Season 2, isn't it? :-) With Season 3 just around the corner and a Season 1 vs Season 2 challenge match on the air this Wednesday, I'm glad I got to see that. My mind is at ease.

Zooooon ;-D
