Okay. New keyboard installed and tested on the Inspiron 5100. Given that I have no qualms about pulling the guts out of a desktop, you'd think that working with clear directions (
pictures with arrows but no circles) would be fine. But no, every time I have to do anything more than change a battery in a laptop, I get nervous.
Fortunately, the new keyboard has been transplanted in and tested (I can
log in again -- the keys that weren't working before precluded that, because my usual account used one of the bad letters in its password, and the Administrator account used the other!). Sometime this weekend, I must clone the hard drive to the 160GB drive on the shelf, and take stuff from the old laptop over, too. Then it'll be time to rock!
